Andover, MA (PRWEB) December 10, 2007 -- Copanion, Inc., an innovator in tax document automation, today announced the appointment of Edward V. Jennings to the position of senior vice president of sales and marketing. Jennings will report to Steven K. Ladd, president and chief executive officer of Copanion.

"Ed has more than 15 years of experience bringing customer-focused technology solutions to a wide range of industries," said Steven Ladd, CEO of Copanion. "His expertise in marketing and sales programs to reach small and medium-size businesses is perfectly suited for the fragmented professional tax market."

Before joining Copanion, Jennings was vice president of marketing at PTC where he was responsible for marketing communications, go-to-market programs and channel marketing directed at small and medium-size business customers. He was previously general manager at Into Networks where he led the expansion of the company's technology into the financial services market. He also held senior positions at Qwest Communications and Broderbund Software. A graduate of Boston College, Jennings holds an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management.

Jennings joins the three founding executives of Copanion: Steven K. Ladd, CEO; Dr. Depankar Neogi, COO; and Mark A. Robinson, vice president of business development.

Steven Ladd is a serial entrepreneur who holds a bachelors and a masters degree in electrical engineering and computer science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He founded InterChip Systems, Inc., a leading technology provider of electronic product development systems, acquired by Honeywell.

Dr. Depankar Neogi runs engineering and operations for Copanion. Neogi is a former technology executive at Winphoria Networks Inc. (acquired by Motorola Inc.), Webspective Software Inc. (acquired by Inktomi, now Yahoo Inc.), and Boston Technology Inc. (acquired by Comverse).

The company's technical expertise is complemented by a team of tax professionals, led by co-founder Mark Robinson, a CPA with 25 years of tax preparation experience.

"Copanion presents a very exciting investment opportunity," said Jeffrey Hurst, general partner and co-founder of Commonwealth Capital. "The team is solving an extremely difficult technical problem, the applications for their solution are wide-ranging and the early market feedback is encouraging. We look forward to contributing to the success of this outstanding group of entrepreneurs as they build a market-leading company."
